Severe storms have battered parts of the Midwest, unleashing a curtain of heavy rain, gusty winds and tornadoes in the region. Tuesday's severe weather outbreak comes a day after a deadly twister ripped through a small Oklahoma town and killed at least one person. Tornadoes were spotted after dark Tuesday in southwestern Michigan, northern Indiana and northwestern Ohio. Forecasters warn that the storms could stretch late into the night as portions of the three states are under a tornado watch. On Monday, powerful storms erupted across the central United States, bringing tornadoes to rural Oklahoma and large hail in parts of Kansas.

Transgender activists have flooded a Utah tip line created to alert state officials to possible violations of a new bathroom law with thousands of hoax reports. The online portal already has received more than 10,000 submissions in its first week. The state auditor says none seem legitimate. Trans activists say the fake submissions are a form of peaceful protest meant to shield trans people who might be reported for possible violations. Their efforts mark the latest attempt by advocates to shut down or render unusable a government tip line that they argue sows division by encouraging residents to snitch on each other.

The PGA Championship returns to Valhalla in Louisville, Kentucky, for the fourth time on May 16-19.

Prince Harry has arrived in London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games but he won't see his father on this visit. A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex says that King Charles III has a busy schedule and the two won't meet during this trip. Harry, who has a strained relationship with his family, rushed to London in February for a very short visit after his father was diagnosed with cancer. The king returned to official duties a week ago after being sidelined for three months. The palace says doctors were very encouraged by his progress.

A third-term city council member in south Mississippi is leaving office after pleading guilty to a federal conspiracy charge related to running a business that sold illegal drugs. Robert Leon Deming, III, announced his resignation from the Biloxi City Council on Tuesday. Federal prosecutors announced last week that Deming reached a plea agreement. They said he sold over $2 million worth of CBD and vape products containing controlled substances. The Drug Enforcement Administration received complaints that some products made customers ill. Deming's business was called the Candy Shop. It had locations in Mississippi and North Carolina.

TikTok and its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, are suing the U.S. government over a law that would ban the popular video-sharing app unless it’s sold to an approved buyer. The lawsuit filed Tuesday might set up what could be a protracted legal fight over its future in the United States. The companies argue that the new law vaguely paints ByteDance's ownership of TikTok as a national security threat in order to circumvent the First Amendment, despite no evidence that the company poses a threat. It also says the law is so “obviously unconstitutional” that its sponsors are instead portraying it as a way to regulate TikTok’s ownership.
